Bridges are natural-looking tooth replacements that help maintain facial structure, reduce stress on the jaw, and fill in the gaps caused by missing teeth. Fixed bridges are cemented to the existing teeth and do not come out. Removable bridges can be taken out and cleaned at home. With good oral hygiene and regular checkups, the lifespan of a fixed bridge can be 10+ years.
What to Expect
During the first visit, your dentist will make an impression of your teeth to serve as a model from which the bridge will be made. While the bridge is being made, your dentist will make a temporary bridge for you to wear to protect the exposed teeth and gums.
During the second visit, your new permanent bridge will be checked to ensure a proper fit. Multiple visits may be required to adjust the fit. After a couple weeks of adjustments, the bridge is permanently cemented into place.
We recommended eating soft foods in small bites until you become accustomed to wearing the bridge.
Your dentist can tell you which type of dental bridge is best for you. Dental Health Associates, P.A. has several dentists who can provide these services. Call (888) 995-8095 today for an appointment or use our online appointment request form.
